Interview with Angelika Pylkina and Niklas Hogner.

V: Well, first of all, I would like to know, when you started to skate? Who put you both into figure skating?

N: I started when I was 9! My mom is a coach in our rink and my sister skated
on high level in Sweden... but never internationally .
A: I started to skate, when I was 5.

V: Next question to Niklas:
I know, you were single skater earlier. Who was your coach? Why you decided to become pair skater?
N: My mother was my coach and i was also coached by Tanja Magnusson for the
last 3 years as a single skater.
I have always been interested in pairs. especially since i saw it live for
the first time back in -97.

V: How and when did you get acquainted with each other?
N: I took contact with angelica and her mother Nelli in the spring in
2003. I heard that Nelli was a former pair skater and her daughter was a good
single skater for her age.
A: My mother was working in Orebro. And one week before our departure , someone suggested me to try to skate in pair with Swedish guy. And I tried…

When you train in your club do you have the ice all to yourself? If I understood right, most of the time you train in Linkoping?
N: Thats right 1 hour every day we are all alone and the rest of the time we
train together with 5-10 single skaters.
A: We train about 4 hours every day 6 days per week.

V: Are you always nervous before competitions?
N: Angelica is more nervous than me... hahah

V: Who are your favorite skaters?
N: I think we both look up to totmianina/marinin and chen/xao (the chinese) .
And I still admire Gordeva/Grinkov. Angelica is too young to remember...
A: I don’t have any favorite skaters. Someone I like more, someone less, but not favorite.

V: This season you took part in senior Grand-prix competition Cup of
Russia. But anyway you are still junior pair?
N: We had the opportunity to do GPs couse we have some World standing points from last season.
We went to Paris and during that comp they asked us if we wanted to go to
Russia the following week cause a Chinese pair withdrew...
A: This year is last, when we are juniors.

V: Do you have any hobby?
N: Most of the time I hanging out with my wonderful friends and if I’m
not sleeping... hahah in the summer I love to go swimming or waterskiing.
A: I like to cook, to read , to knit sometimes. But I don’t have much time for having hobby. Here in Sweden you can’t miss school.

V: Do you have many skaters who are your friends, or most of your friends
are not from figure skating?
N: most of my friends are not from skating but we have good connection in the national team I have to say.
A: I have not many friends, and they are not from figure skating. Most of the time, I communicate with my sister.

V: Niklas: You already graduated now from high school. Where do you work?
Are you planning to continue your studies somewhere or not?

N:I work as a waiter in 2 restaurants and commentating for eurosport during
championships like Filip.
right now I don’t have plans to study.

V:Niklas: what does your typical day look like?
N:I get up around 05.45, eat my breakfast , go to morning practice , then I go to work or if I don’t work I go to home, take shower, then meet my friends. At 4 pm I go to my second practice and after then I go out with my friends or my girlfriend.

V:Angelika: What profession would you like to have in future?
A: I study now in 8 grade. I missed one year because of learning Swedish language. Now it’s too early to think about what to do after graduating. But maybe my future profession will have connection with sport, like coach..
