My interview with Filip

Vika: First of all, how did you begin to skate?

Filip: My sister started to skate. My mother took me to the ice-rink as well. I had nothing to do while my sister was skating, so I started to skate too.

V: How old were you?

F: I was 3 years old. And my sister was 6!

V: Is Eugeni Loutkov your coach from the beginning?

F: No, He is my coach since 1999. Before that I had a lot of different coaches.

V: How many hours per week do you skate?

F: Approximately about 12-15 hours.

V: Do you have the ice all to yourself?

F: Sometimes I have the ice to myself, sometimes 2 skaters skate with me on ice. Sometimes we are 8-10 people on the ice. In my club there are not so many skaters.

V: Until what age will you compete in figure skating competition?

F: 24.30… Oh I’m joking :-). I don’t know yet. It depends on everything.

V: What do you think about new system of judgment?

F: It’s much better. Of course, it’s not perfect, but it’s fairer than previous. Now it’s more clear , why I get points I get!

V: Are you always nervous before competitions?

F: Well, at some points yes! I mean, when it’s international competitions, I’m not so nervous. But when it’s Nationals, I’m always nervous. Many people are cheering me and I really want to skate well.

V: Do they disturb you?

F: Maybe a little bit.

I’m nervous as well, when I’m in hotel’s room thinking about competitions.

V: Who are your favorite skaters?

F: I like them all. I like them for different reasons. For example, the skating of Jeffrey Buttle, jumps of Chinese skaters. Of course Plushenko is fantastic. I always expect the best from him.

V: What does the typical day look like for you?

F: I don’t have such thing as typical day. They are all different. It depends on my school schedule and so on.

I wake up, go to practice, twice a week I go to gym. Then I go home. I can not study between practices, because I’m tired, maybe I can sleep a little bit. After then I go to my second practice. When I come back from it, I usually study. I always study at the evenings.

V: Your favorite drinks?

F: Sprite, Cola and so on. I hate beer, coffee, wine. I like Baileys.

V: Favorite movie?

F: I like movies like Spider man, Matrix, but just the first movie, The Lord of the Rings is great film. I like Memento as well.

V: Favorite food?

F: Everything: Pasta, Pizza, Chinese food.

V: Do you have any special hobbies?

F: I love to watch TV, read newspapers, and watch sport. I like to hang out with friends, when I have time.

V: By the way, you mentioned TV. You work as commentator on Eurosport , right?

F: Yes, I work as figure skating commentator during World and European Championships. I really enjoy this work.

My another big hobby is music.

V: What kind of music do you listen?

F: I like to listen to new music. Does not matter, if it’s pop or rock or something else. I like, when the song is new.

I like to sing in the shower (laughs).

V: Do you have many friends , who are skaters?

F: Yes: Kristoffer, Niklas Hogner are my friends and Kalle Strid, Asa Persson as well, , who are also Swedish skaters. I have friends from university and from other places as well.

V: You study in University last year?

F: Yes, but after this I would like to study to become a journalist.

V: You did not think about becoming coach?

F: No… Maybe just a little bit to help my coach. But I may be technical specialist, judge but not coach.

V: What is your favorite place?

F: I like every city, that is big. I enjoyed New-York. I liked it more than Paris for example.

I like my home city- Gothenburg. I like Stockholm , especially the centre of this city.

V: Place you would like to visit in future?

F: I would like to go to Japan.

V: Do you have any proposes in your life?

F: To be famous. I’m kidding :-)

To become a journalist is my main goal. And to be rich…( laughs) everybody wants to be rich.
