Interview with Lina

V: Tell me how did you begin to skate?
L: I was learning to skate in hockey school and then my mum’s friend told us about figure skating so I started skating there.. and my coach(Ela) came to pick some skaters and she saw me and thought it was a boy because I was having a hockey helmet on..
V: Ela is your coach from the beginning?
L: Yes Ela has always been my coach.
V: Are there many skaters in your club? or your club is not very big?
L: It is quite big. I practice with 6 other skaters. Then we have many groups
V: Who helps Ela to work with you?
L: Laco, and my ballet coach, she helps with choreography and then I have my off-ice coach Johan. My ballet coach name is Hanna
V: Who is Laco then?
L: Another coach on the ice
V: What can you say about your work with kudriavcev?
L: He helps me a lot, I like to work with him
V: With whom you work in Oberstdorf and flims?
L: Oberstdorf with my coach ela, and Flims with viktor
V: By the way, , how do you understand Viktor? I heard, his English is not very good!
L: :) I try to understand... but he shows by body language so I can understand. And when he say some Russian word and show at the same time you learn. When my coach is around she translate.
V: What is your favorite jump?
L: Toelop
V: Do you have any idols in skating?
L: Irina Slutskaya always been my idol.
V: Have you ever thought to become pair skater?
L: Yes, when i was younger and I had some months when nothing happened.. (couldn’t land my jumps so then I was thinking about it.. but then after some months everything came back and I started to land my trippels.
V: What kind of feeling you have before competitions? are you always nervous or you are pretty calm?
L: I’m pretty calm, very focused. But this year during the Euros I was little nervous because I’ve just been injured and I was thinking about that all the time/ I had fracture in my foot.
V: Who do you think are strong rivals with you in skating now?
L: Oh, I don’t know :) There are so many good skaters. But if we are talking about Sweden, then it’s the girl, who was in WCH in Calgary this year. Her name is Amanda Nylander.
V: Do you consider figure skating a hobby or is it mostly work?
L: I just think of it like it is the best thing in the world. It’s a hobby.
