V: Tell me some words please about your new programs this season. T: Basically I have only one new program, it’s free skating, I kept my short program from the last year. Actually I was thinking about changing 2 programs, but then I decided to change only free program, because I really enjoy my SP and I want to skate it one more season. I guess audience like it very much as well. New free program is tango music and I just love this kind of music, it makes me feel great on the ice, there is a lot of passion. People like it too, because I chose pretty famous parts of tango. Everybody knows this music, it’s important to me.
V: I know that you have 2 main coaches( Vlasta Koprieva and Michael Huth). How does it feel to work with them? I have some examples of situation, when 2 coaches train a skater together, sometimes they have different opinions on one thing, it can cause some conflicts. T: Yes, I have 2 coaches, I know what you mean, but my situation is completely different, we work as one team in Oberstorf (Germany). Vlasta Koprivova is my main coach, but I work with the whole team, 2 technical coaches, choreographer and so on. You know, Vlasta Koprivova and Michael Huth work in cooperation, there are 2 heads which means more knowledge ( smiles) and they often say the same things, they think in similar way and that’s very good. They discuss something, but then they come to one opinion. V: Could you tell me, where do you live? You train in Oberstorf, but your home city is Prague… T: Oh, it’s funny story about my living! I’m homeless… I moved from my parents’ house to Prague about 8 years ago. So I don’t live by my parents, but I don’t live in Prague as well, I have there just small room. I travel a lot, I don’t live in Obersdorf, not by my parents, not at the competitions, so nowhere… I’m living on my way. V: I remember I read one article about you some years ago. It was written that you had an opportunity to do figure skating, because your family had enough money for it. For others who earn not so much money, it’s almost impossible to do figure skating in Czech Republic. I wonder, if it’s true or you would not agree with it? T: I would not say it’s true. Figure skating is expensive sport, but it’s expensive anywhere in the world, not only in my country. I know that it’s very expensive in America and Canada. In CZE it costs you a lot before you get top level, So far I got the Europeans gold, and you can see I have the names of my sponsors on my t-short. It was a lot of support 1-2 years ago from Czech Figure skating Association. And it worked out. I became second at Europeans and then I got gold.It was written pretty much about me in press, so sponsors came to me. Concerning figure skating, I never had the goal to earn money by skating. Skating is my passion, my love and right now it’s very important part of my life, I’m still young, but you know I study, because I understand that you have to be able to do something else, except skating. In our life there is not so much time for figure skating, because life is pretty short, I mean professional life in many areas is pretty short and then you have to decide what you will do in the future. That’s why I study already now at physical education department.
V: What do you expect from this season? T: Last year I won Europeans and many people were thinking that I should defend my European gold title at Worlds. But I just forgot it. Worlds and Europeans are different competitions and there are different situations, I wanna be good at Worlds, Europeans and Olympic games. These are the most important competitions. Grand-prix competitions are also important, but still it’s not top level. I don’t think about defending my title, I just think about good skate, but more important for me is Worlds. Because last year I started up pretty good in the short, but then you know in the free program I did not finish my season as I wished.
