Kristoffer Berntsson's impressions about WCH 2009
Read here Kristoffer's thoughts about Worlds 2009 in L.A. "We came a little earlier than usual to the competition, because of the big time difference. The preparations went well and felt ready to skate. It was also nice to trade a cold Sweden to a warm and sunny LA. Short was ok, but not more. I did my triple axel and the combination but put down a hand on the triple flip. But it was pretty close between many skaters, so I had a chance to move up. Unfortunately I didn't take that chance...
In the long I started with a good triple lutz but then I fell on the toeloop afterwards, something I didn't expect. Then I made a very bad triple axel that wasn't even fully rotated and thus only counted as a double... Getting a little pissed off I did a triple flip triple toe combination. It felt like I skated the program well but I also missed the second triple axel and at the Worlds you can't do that many mistakes, leading to a 20th place overall. Now I feel that I want to come back better than ever next year since it might be my last.. Luckily I don't have any surgery planned, so I will start training and making new programs real soon.
Concerning other’s skating: I like Patrick Chan's skating, really light and easy with nice edges and so on. But Evan was a worthy winner this time, he was the only one who did everything. In the ladies competition Yu-Na Kim was outstanding, that triple-triple combination she did was just amazing. And of course it's cool to see Mao Asada's triple axel."
