First competition of new season has just ended. Read here Kristoffer’s impressions about it and plans for this season:
V: What are your thoughts about Finlandia Trophy? K: It was first competition of the season. The whole summer of trainings was great, but then I had small injury, it took 3 or 4 weeks for recovering. So I could not skate my programs in a proper way. Anyway, I felt pretty good going into this competition. Short program was pretty good, only small mistake on flip and spin. Concerning FP: Skating was pretty good, but I did some mistakes. Overall, it was nice first competition. Of course, I was hoping to be on the top three. I was 4th after the short and I definitely had a chance to be the 3d after free program. But some mistakes did not allow me to make it. For the next competition I will be much more ready. It was a good start, something to build on. V: Tell me about your new programs. K: I have both of them new. The short is an inspiring program, it’s a little bit tougher than I’ve done before, but it’s fun. The free program is more classical one, which is always nice. Hopefully, the audience will like them both. V: Are technical elements harder in your new programs as before? K: We try to make more and more perfect programs. I think this year they are best programs I’ve ever had. Skater must improve everything with his experience. So from technical side programs became more difficult comparing to other years and I’ll try to do my best. V: Why did you decide to make classical program this season? K: Maybe because I have not done it in many years now. Also, it took us several weeks, I was trying different ideas, but finally we thought that this variant works fine and suits me. V: Tell some words about your work with Vedenin this summer? How happened that you started to work with him? K: I met him during National camp in Malmo( Sweden), I liked working with him, he has interesting ideas and he is good coach. So it’s always nice to have some new ideas, new inspirations. V: Many people have asked why you stopped working with Igor Bobrin? K: Well, firstly, he is very busy man. I learned a lot from Bobrin. But he lives in USA and I live Sweden, so if I had some questions concerning his programs, which we made during the summer in USA, it was very difficult to ask him because of distance. Obviously, it is more convenient to have coach and choreographer, who live not so far away from me. Now I really like working with my current choreographer Zerjon Abebe, he lives also in Gothenburg, so we can meet and improve something if necessary every week. V: What your decision about continuing skating career depends on? You mentioned that 2010 will probably be your last season, but at the same time you noted that nothing is decided yet. K: It depends on how I feel, what I want to do. I’m starting to see another life after competing. I had a lot of injuries, and training process takes a lot of both physical and mental energy. You have to go and practice almost ever day, even if you are tired or not feeling really good. So as I told before, I have not really decided what happens after this season, if I have motivation, I can do anything. Right now I’m focusing on this season and then we will see.
