Kristoffer's impressions about Swedish Nationals and Euros 2011
Saturday, 12 February 2011

"Before nationals I hadn't done very good at the competitions and I knew I had to win if I wanted to go to Europeans. Fortunately I started to skate better and better a couple of weeks before nationals so I felt pretty confident. I started well with a good short program and ended up in first place after the short. Before the long I was pretty little nervous, but still managed to have a good spirit. Unfortunately I didn't start out well, making mistakes on the first jumps. But then I got into the program and skated the second half of the program very well and took the swedish title again! :) I also got a spot in the team for Europeans.  After nationals I didn't skate very well, but I slowly started to skate better and better. Unfortunately I didn't reach the same level of consistency as before nationals, the triple axel was giving me some trouble...But the last practice before we left it felt pretty good and I skated well. So, going into the short I felt pretty good, and the cold arena was ok for me, I just put on an extra pair of pants :) Short went ok, but I could have skated better. Had deductions on both the triple axel and the combination...The rest went well though, and I ended up in 8th place after the short. This year the men skated last on Saturday evening, and unfortunately the sold out arena wasn't full when we skated. The atmosphere was still very good though! I started my skate good with a triple lutz triple toe combination, but I twofooted the first triple axel and fell on the second...Going on I missed the combination spin...Then it became a little brighter when I did the second triple lutz, but more mistakes followed and I got a really low technical score, dropping all the way to 14th place overall. I'm not happy about that result! I will do my best at Nordics now! "

Kristoffer Berntsson's impressions about latest competitions- NHK Trophy, Swe. Nationals and Euros
Tuesday, 26 January 2010

“ Honestly, NHK was just really bad competition for me, nothing to say more. But after NHK I went to Romania and I skated much better, it felt good. At Nationals I skated even better than in Romania, especially free program. I did almost everything great, there were just little mistakes. It was a nice competitions and I wanted to keep working like that. And then I came here and wanted to improve everything even more. Short program was ok in Tallinn, I did double instead of triple flip, but the rest was very good. I felt confident before free program. But I made the mistake on combination and then I fell on the triple axel, after that I was hard to get back on the track. It was just bad skating. I’m very disappointed. Trainings went really good here, but this is sport! I wanted to do something special, and maybe I was too concentrated on doing something amazing, which bothered me to skate well technically. Overall, I can say that it was very interesting competition, many sportsmen skated really great, and of course it was exciting to watch Plushenko’s and Lambiel’s programs. Plushenko showed once again that he is great skater. It’s hard to say something concerning my future plans, because I don’t go to Olympics. So I can’t say anything yet about my plans for the rest of the season, we will see and I will keep you updated”
