Interview with European champion 2008 Tomas Verner. |
|
Monday, 08 December 2008 |
V: Tell me some words please about your new programs this season. T: Basically I have only one new program, it’s free skating, I kept my short program from the last year. Actually I was thinking about changing 2 programs, but then I decided to change only free program, because I really enjoy my SP and I want to skate it one more season. I guess audience like it very much as well. New free program is tango music and I just love this kind of music, it makes me feel great on the ice, there is a lot of passion. People like it too, because I chose pretty famous parts of tango. Everybody knows this music, it’s important to me. |

Article about how Kristoffer and Adrian spent summer 2008 |
|
Monday, 22 September 2008 |
Kristoffer tells about his summer :
So, this summer has been a little different. First I was jumping around on my crutches for six weeks, then I could finally walk by myself... But I had to continue with the physiotherapy for many months, which I started less then a week after the surgery. So instead of skating and being away from home I've done the opposite, no skating and a lot of time at home. It's been nice though to spend a little more time with my friends and family . Then in late July I started skating a bit and in August I stepped up the training with several sessions a day. I'm happy to say the surgery was successful and it feels much better than before, but of course it's not perfect and I need a lot of training to be ready to compete. Started working on a new free program when as well, but it's still in it's making and I will need some more time before I can show it... Maybe this summer was what I needed, to get some time away from figure skating and finding the extra motivation needed to get to the next level. |

Kristoffer's plans for summer |
|
Wednesday, 04 June 2008 |
|
"Now I'm ready to get rid of the crouches and that feels pretty good... The rehabilitation is going well, but it takes a lot of time, I want to be ready to skate now! For the first time in I don't know how many years, I will be at home during the summer . Hopefully I will start skating in July, but I'm not sure where yet. We don't have any ice in Gothenburg in July... From August we have ice in my rink in Landvetter, and then I will be ready to skate for sure! I will gradually practice more and more, things like swimming and then cycling, but I will have more time than usually to spend with my friends and family, that's something I'm looking forward to." |

V: Please tell some words about yourself. Z: My name is Zerjon Abebe. I’m from Ethiopia originally, but I’ve been living in Sweden a long time now. I came to Sweden, when I was 6-7 years old, so I call myself Swede. I grew up in Stockholm, but I moved to Gothenburg some years ago. I studied computer engineering and dancing. I’m in the dancing group, which called “Twisted Feet”. We are champions in street dance in Sweden. We dance all kinds of dance. |

New interview with Kristoffer Berntsson and his thoughts about WCH2008 in Gothenburg |
|
Tuesday, 08 April 2008 |
|
V: Tell me about your exhibition performance on Justin Timberlake’s music. How the idea was created?
K: My choreographer Zerjon Abebe did this performance. We just listened to different love music, and these songs are popular and the style suits me, so we decided to choose “My love” and “Lovestoned”. It was fun to try. And you know, during this performance I’m killing mosquito, this thing was also idea of my choreographer, we thought that it would be more fun, if we do it with mosquito. I will skate it in WCH exhibition gala.

Kristoffer Berntsson: "Nothing is impossible" |
|
Sunday, 02 December 2007 |
|
Everybody knows that WCH 2008 will take place in Gothenburg. It’s the home town of Kristoffer. Read my new interview with him. - How is it going with practicing quad? - In the summer I was going pretty good, I was getting better and better, I was close to do it. But then I’ve got injury, I could not skate for 6 weeks. But now everything is fine, I’m back and I think I can start to work with quad again.
-Why you decided to keep your free program? - First of all because I like it. It works well with audience. We have WCH at home, and I want to skate it. We looked for another music, but we did not find anything I would like to skate at and then we decided to keep it.
-How your new short program was created? - In the summer, we did another short program, the music was by M.Jackson. But you know Jackson is pretty close to disco. So I thought, 2 programs would be pretty similar, but you have to be different, you have to try different things to push yourself, to become better and better. So we chose another program. For me it’s new style, new choreography.
-Are you going to make something special in your performances at WCH?

Interview with Alexander Uspenskiy during Cup of Russia 2007 |
|
Saturday, 01 December 2007 |
|
V: First question is always traditional. How did you start to skate?

A: When I was 4,5 years old I just was walking with my mum and we saw the skaters, who were practicing in the park. Mum just wondered if I wanted to be a sportsman too. I answered yes, I really don’t know why, because at that time I had no idea what the figure skating was. From that time I skate. First coach was from skating school “Lokomotiv” in Moscow. Then I gave up skating for short period of time, and just began to study at school. After few months my coach suggested me to skate in ballet on ice. I accepted this invitation, but I did not really want to skate in ballet on ice, so soon I changed the coach, but I decided to continue skating. During 10 years I worked with the same coach, but since January 2007 I train with Marina Kudriavceva.( the wife of Victor Kudriavcev). Right now except skating I study in University to become a coach. But figure skating is not everything in my life. I’m very interested in music and theatre. |

Interview with Gregor Urbas |
|
Saturday, 01 December 2007 |
V: Tell me, how your skating career started in Slovenia. G: My sister skated. When I was little, we took her to the training with my grandmother. I had nothing to do during her trainings. I was tired of drinking tea in the bar, waiting for her. So one time my grandma took my skates and I started to skate. I had Slovenian coach and then 2 Russian coaches came to Slovenia and I trained with them 13 years. Right now I have Slovenian coach again, we together already 3 years. I enjoy working with her. I remember WCH 2005 in Moscow, I skated awful then and after it I changed the coach. She became my coach and my results became better and better. |

Niklas Hogner and Angelika Pylkina stopped skating together. |
|
Monday, 19 November 2007 |
Here you can read what Niklas Hogner commented about such decision: “ The decision to quit we made together after many days of conversation. First of all we had a long time of injuries and illness and we didn't improve in the way we wanted. We had different opinions how we should go on with our work... And many other reasons but thats the main things. For the future I'm looking for a new partner and I'm not over as a skater yet:) So I'm still skating in waiting for some try outs!” |

Interview with Russian skater Andrei Lutai |

V: First question is usual, how did you start to skate? A: I have older brother and sister. At first she started to skate, and then my brother started to skate. He was very talented. But in Belgorod, where I lived, we had problem with ice and the level of figure skating was not high. I started to skate, when I was 6 years old. My sister was already coach at that time. She was my coach until 12 years old. But as I said, the level of figure skating in Belgorod was not good enough. I moved to Samara. My sister was in Moscow, she talked with Mishin and asked, if I can skate with him. I came to Saint-Petersburg for 3 days, skated in the ice-rink and Alexei Mishin said, that he will coach me and help me with studies and place for living, so I moved to Petersburg. I’ve been living here for 7 years. Except Mishin, I train with his wife. If to talk about this season, the choreographer of my short program is Vahtang Murvanidze ( Skater from Georgia, but now he works in USA). The choreographer of my free program is Edvard Smirnov. I worked with me before as well.
